The pre-Christmas season is just around the corner, and for many, it marks the beginning of a true marathon: gifts are bought, and it's not long before the packaging frenzy begins. In the rush, we sometimes forget how much the environment suffers from our desire to bring joy to our loved ones.
In this case, less is more – from the selection to the gift wrapping. Because sustainability can be applied to all areas of life.
In this way, we can do something good for our loved ones, ourselves, and our environment. But where do you start? Which gifts are sustainable, and what does eco-friendly packaging look like? To make the search for sustainable gifts less arduous, we have compiled some helpful tips in our Fair Gift Guide:

Sich Zeit nehmen
Start your search for suitable gifts early and take your time. Be sure to avoid stress purchases. The concept of sustainability is already evident in this step - because the more thought you put into the "sense" or "nonsense" of a gift idea, the higher the probability that the recipient will enjoy it for a long time, making it truly sustainable. Don't give "useless" gifts.

For example, support a relief organization or promote environmental protection with a donation. Plant trees or, together with an environmental organization, give a sponsorship for natural flower meadows or rainforest sections.

Nachhaltige Verpackung
There are many truly beautiful alternatives to conventional wrapping paper. Try using saved newspaper, baking paper, or packing paper, which you can decorate with a nice ribbon, fir branches, and dried orange slices, for example. Or use old fabric scraps or napkins that the recipient can reuse. If you don't want to forgo the wrapping paper look, when shopping, look for environmentally friendly recycled wrapping paper – preferably marked with a "Blue Angel" seal. This seal confirms that the paper is made from 100% recycled paper and no new trees had to be felled for it. Wrap the gift as much as possible in a way that it doesn't necessarily have to be torn when unwrapped and the recipient can reuse it.
